“Are you available on the 15th to photograph a special event?” the inquiry read. Immediately, I checked my calendar. To my delight, it was neither already booked nor a Saturday! Now to find out more about said special event. I like to chat with clients over the phone straight up to hear their vision for their photos or event. But when Gina’s message came through our landline was out of order and there is extremely limited mobile service out here. Occasionally, I manage to get a bar on top of the concrete tank. But that day there was none. When we finally got to chat a few days later, it turned out the special event was going to be very special. Her 50th birthday would double up as a wedding making the love and commitment between her partner of thirty years and herself official. How sweet is that?!
The ceremony was a real tear-jerker. Held in the Mary Brand Park in Moree, celebrant Nicole Fitzgerald had the guests both laughing and crying by the telling of bride and groom’s unlikely love story. The rings were warmed in the hands of Warren’s mother and attending family released helium balloons in remembrance of deceased loved ones.
Gina and Warren delighted their guests by commencing the reception with a first dance. The reception was held at the Moree RSL club and had been beautifully decorated by family. Lovely, carved timber place-holders with the names of Gina’s late mother and father and Warren’s late father had their own places at the bridal table.
As the photographer on this day, I was impressed with the love, warmth and positivity so visible between Gina and Warren, their immediate family, bridal party and guests. Congratulations again, Mr. and Mrs. Sampson! Thank you for choosing me to record these very special moments for you to treasure.
