Emily & Matt: Kaputar Ranges Maternity Session

Emily & Matt: Kaputar Ranges Maternity Session

Years of drought and dry creek beds changes the way one thinks, I’ve noticed. Or what one doesn’t think, more to the point.

The possibility of flash floods this spring didn’t particularly cross my mind. Let alone such for the day Emily booked their maternity session.

On Friday morning I emptied our rain gauge. 30ml. Saturday night I tipped it out again. 22. Sunday morning – 50ml and a picture on our family chat of my sister’s swirling and impassable creek. And yet, I was still both optimistic and skeptical. It’s possible to both at once, right? Skeptical that the creeks were really that bad and optimistic that everything was going to be fine. I was right on one count, but not the other. Can you guess which? 😉

Thankfully, unlike me, Emily and Matt had a 4WD. They crossed the creek I dared not. We switched locations on the spot: instead of tall, drenched grass; a hidden-away, boulder forest. How blessed am I to have clients who are that thoughtful and easy-going?!

As we traipsed through the scrub to find the spot I envisaged, I warned Matt and Emily that we may not return the same way we came. And as it turned out, we did get a little lost. In the dark. Without torches. 🙈😂

But oh the sweet memories captured in that misty fog and on those mossy rocks! I don’t think any of us would have changed a minute of our time together. It seemed like we were old friends and I can’t wait to meet this precious little one who is clearly so loved already!
